Common questions
What disciplines are available?
Design handles the part that decides whether it ships well or just ships, the states nobody drew, the components that need to be reusable. Development builds things meant to stay built, with the architecture decisions that keep the next feature cheap. Quality engineering is automated coverage and release verification that actually catches things. Agentic engineering puts agents with real access into your systems, with enough structure around them that you can trust the output.
Which engagement is right for us?
Most of our work is partnerships. That's where we do our best work, and it fits when scope needs room to change as you learn. If you know exactly what you need and want a fixed number with a guaranteed end date, a project fits better. Not sure? Book a discovery call and we'll tell you straight.
How does partnership billing work?
We bill on the 1st of the month, and that's also when partnerships start. Longer terms cost less per month because they let us plan capacity. They also come with price protection for the full term, and first call on capacity when we're full.
How does project billing work?
40% deposit on signature, 30% at a midpoint milestone you can see, 30% on delivery. When a project ends, 10% of the fee credits against your first three months of a partnership if you sign within 30 days.
Can we pause a partnership?
Yes. A $1,000/mo Standby plan keeps the relationship warm: two office-hours slots a month, Slack at next business day, and we stay in your tooling and your context. When you're ready to move again there's no ramp-up and no re-explaining. Standby fees credit against your first month back on a plan.
Do you work in our tools or yours?
Ours, mostly. We bring our own AI stack, and the costs that come with it (models, agents, subscriptions, inference) stay on our bill, not yours. When you want us closer, we embed with your tools easily: your repo, your Slack, your conventions.
