AI-First Full Stack Engineer

Full-time/Remote/$130k–$160k/U.S. candidates only

About strideUX

strideUX is a product design and software development studio. Captivated by AI, grounded by experience, judgment, and taste. We work across brand, product, creative, and development, building digital experiences that move businesses forward. Our projects span industries and formats, most client-facing, but we also invest in internal tools, exploration, and staying ahead of where software (and AI) is going.

We're a small, senior team. We embed directly into client teams and operate with trust, clarity, and calm productivity. Beyond client work, we build internal products and tooling that help us, our clients, and other builders adopt and get the most out of AI-driven workflows. If you care about craft and want to do meaningful work with people who feel the same, you'll fit in here.

The Role

We're looking for a senior full stack engineer who has built real things by hand and now uses AI as their primary workflow, not the other way around.

You've spent enough time in codebases to know when an approach is wrong, when an architecture decision will cause problems later, and when AI-generated code needs to be corrected or thrown out. You can review code critically, make structural decisions, guide a model toward the right pattern, and push back when the output isn't good enough. That foundation is what makes you effective with AI tools, not the other way around.

On top of that, you've leaned hard into AI-driven development. You've built custom rules, context files, and tooling around coding agents. You write specs that agents can execute against. You think about how to structure projects so they're easy for both humans and AI to navigate. You understand token budgets, model strengths, and prompt efficiency at a practical level. You're always looking for opportunities to optimize how you work or build new tooling and solutions.

You'll work across client projects and internal products, building modern web and mobile applications with our core stack while being flexible enough to work across the frameworks our clients need.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship full stack web and mobile applications across client and internal projects.
  • Write technical specs and architect features end-to-end, from system design through AI-driven implementation.
  • Work across modern, TypeScript-forward stacks. Our primary tools include React, Convex, Next.js, and Tailwind, but we also work with Vue, Nuxt, React Native, Supabase, and PostgreSQL depending on the project.
  • Review code with an eye for security, performance, and agent-readability.
  • Translate Figma designs into polished, production-ready interfaces.
  • Collaborate with designers, PMs, and the CTO during planning and execution.
  • Build and refine the AI workflows, rules, and tooling we use across the studio.
  • Structure codebases for clarity, both for the team and for AI agents working within them.
  • Stay current with new models, tools, and techniques, and bring what you learn back to the team.

What We're Looking For

  • Genuinely passionate and optimistic about AI in engineering workflows. We want someone who is fired up about what these tools make possible, not just using them because everyone else is.
  • Solid full stack experience building production web applications across modern, TypeScript-forward stacks.
  • Strong fundamentals in frontend frameworks, backend services, and data layers.
  • Our primary stack includes React, Convex, Next.js, and Tailwind. Experience with Vue, Nuxt, React Native, Supabase, and PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • AI as a daily driver: Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar tools are your primary development environment, not a side feature.
  • Experience building custom AI workflows: project rules, context files, prompt templates, custom instructions, or MCP integrations.
  • Deep understanding of context engineering: how to structure projects, specs, and prompts so AI agents produce better, more reliable output.
  • Practical awareness of token efficiency, model capabilities, and how to get the most from current-generation LLMs.
  • Comfortable writing technical specs that guide both human and AI implementation.
  • Strong system design instincts: security, scale, separation of concerns, and clean architecture.
  • Experience with code review and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically.
  • Comfort with Tailwind, shadcn/ui, and component-based design systems.
  • Experience translating designs into responsive, accessible UI.
  • Reliable communication and consistent availability during agreed working hours.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with React Native or mobile development.
  • Familiarity with Vue/Nuxt ecosystems.
  • Experience with Convex specifically.
  • Contributions to open-source AI tooling, custom MCP servers, or published workflows.
  • SEO and performance optimization experience.
  • Experience working inside Slack- and Linear-driven workflows.
  • Comfort collaborating directly with clients or product stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • Obsessed with improving how you work, not just what you ship.
  • Curious about new models, new tools, and new ways to use them.
  • Opinionated about AI workflows but open to learning and adapting.
  • Strong engineering instincts. You understand why things should be built a certain way, not just how.
  • Detail-oriented and efficient. You use AI to move faster without sacrificing quality.
  • Calm, communicative, and steady, even when priorities shift.
  • Someone who cares deeply about craft, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Why You'll Love Working With Us

  • You'll work with a studio that treats AI-native development as the standard, not an experiment.
  • You'll have real influence on the tools, workflows, and processes we build around.
  • You'll work inside a small senior team that values trust, clarity, and calm productivity.
  • You'll get hands-on experience across a variety of projects, stacks, and problem spaces.
  • You'll join a team that cares deeply about people and the environment they work in.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health insurance with 50% of premiums covered by strideUX.
  • Unlimited PTO — we trust you to take the time you need to recharge.
  • Equipment stipend to set up your ideal workspace.
  • Learning budget for courses, conferences, books, and tools that help you grow.
